Welcome to Tales from Tampere. This is a blog following my time on the HOPE European Exchange Programme May/June 2012. The theme of the programme is "Ageing Health Workforce - Ageing Patients: Multiple Challenges for Hospitals and Healthcare in Europe". I shall be going to Tampere in Finland for 4 weeks and then attending an international meeting in Berlin, Germany. The aim is to see how another healthcare system is structured and to consider the similarities and differences compared to our own NHS system and highlight areas of good practice.
I shall be travelling to Finland on 13th May and will be posting some of my journey on this blog site. I have not done a blog before so bear with me whilst I find my way around it and learn how to make the most of the site. I hope to keep a brief journal, highlighting any "wow" moments and key learning points. I intend to upload photos and keep in touch with family and friends whilst I am away. I am due to return to Nottingham on 14th June so it will be good to hear from others.
